We’re very pleased to share the UKCMA Buyers Guide, produced by the industry, for the industry.

In our members meetings, many of you have said that educating buyers is key to the improvements our industry needs. This guide is a practical step towards that.

For members, it’s a real asset to put in front of clients. Better informed buyers ask better questions, and UKCMA members are well equipped to answer them.

Commissioning crowd management, security and stewarding services can be complicated, particularly for those who don’t do it often. The guide gives buyers a clear, practical route through the process. It covers how to define the service they need, what evidence to ask for when seeking quotes, how to weigh price against value, how to measure performance and what to review at renewal. It also includes a renewal checklist and a set of sample tender questions that clients can adapt to the scale and risk of their own events and venues.

The guide aligns with the principles of the SIA’s forthcoming Security Buyer’s Charter, which will also promote good practice in purchasing quality security services. Both share a focus on professional standards, fair pay and working conditions, transparency and accountable practice. Clients who use the guide will be well placed as those expectations take shape.

The guide isn’t exclusive to members. It’s written for anyone who buys these services, so once it’s published tomorrow, please do help us get it out there by sharing it with your clients, partners and wider networks so it reaches the people it was written for.

The UKCMA Buyers Guide is now available to members here.
