The UKCMA is proud to represent a membership of organisations that bring professionalism, care and integrity to their work across the UK. As the UK’s leading professional body in Crowd Management, the Association shares with its members a responsibility to the clients, workforce and crowds that rely on them. This statement sets out the standards that underpin that responsibility and the steps the Board is taking to support them.
INDUSTRY CONTEXT
The UKCMA is proud that its members continue to deliver reliable, professional services through a period of sustained financial pressure across the Crowd Management industry and the wider workforce provision sector. Changes in government policy and legislation, contract losses, unsustainable growth, non-payment and cash-flow pressures all bring risk alongside opportunity. The Board recognises the resilience this demands and thanks members for continuing to uphold the standards they accepted on joining the Association.
FINANCIAL SUSTAINABILITY & INTEGRITY
The UKCMA regards financial sustainability and integrity as the foundation of reliable service delivery to clients in the UK and internationally.
Members hold themselves to the UKCMA Code of Practice and Charter for Change, as part of the UKCMA Constitution. Through the Code, they undertake to operate their businesses with integrity, to deal fairly and responsibly with clients and to provide clients, prospective clients and guarantors with all appropriate information in a timely and transparent manner. Through the Charter, they pledge to be responsible employers and to comply with HMRC PAYE schemes.
A membership built on these qualities is central to the UKCMA’s commitment to raising industry standards and strengthening purchaser confidence.
UPHOLDING OUR STANDARDS
Where an organisation is no longer able to meet the Association’s standards, the UKCMA Constitution allows for membership to be withdrawn. This applies where a member breaches the Code of Practice or Charter for Change, is unable to pay its debts as they fall due or ceases to trade.
In this respect, decisions are reached with care, through the Association’s disciplinary procedures, acting in a fair, reasonable and non-discriminatory manner. Out of respect for everyone involved, the details of individual cases remain confidential. Organisations whose membership has been withdrawn may no longer present themselves as UKCMA members or use the Association’s name, logo or branding.
ENHANCED MEMBERSHIP CHECKS
Every applicant goes through a rigorous initial application process. For Full Members, that includes providing three years of certified accounts and demonstrating three years of trading under their current legal name. Over the coming months, the UKCMA will introduce further checks to protect members and clients from the same issues arising through new companies.
Safeguards are already in place where an applicant’s directors or owners are associated with recently failed companies. These will be kept under review as part of the Association’s ongoing due diligence.
12-MONTH COOLING-OFF PERIOD
Where an applicant has a director or owner who was involved in a previously failed company, the UKCMA will consider its membership application, only once 12 months have elapsed from the date that company ceased trading.
OUR CURRENT MEMBERSHIP
The UKCMA is proud to showcase the organisations that make up its current membership on the members page of its website at https://ukcma.com/members. Clients and purchasers are warmly invited to explore our website for reassurance and as a reference for good practice.
TRUST & REPUTATION
The UKCMA’s standing rests on the trust placed in it by its members, by clients and purchasers across the wider industry and by the government departments, regulators and agencies it works alongside. That trust has been built by the conduct of every member organisation and the consistency with which the Association applies its standards. For all of them, UKCMA membership signals that an organisation holds itself to the values we hold.
The UKCMA is a member-led Association. Its Board is elected from within its membership. The standards set out in this statement belong to the members who uphold them every day. The Board thanks every member for the care and professionalism they bring to that shared commitment and looks forward to continuing the work together.
